Ranked: No1 Last Years placing: 1st Colours: Green/Black/White Comments: The title holders from last year - The team that everyone wants to beat has always lead the way on both offence and defence.With skilled players on both "O" and "D" the spears have always been a formidable team who strike fear into those teams who stand in front of them. Could this be another spears year or will one of the other 7 teams take home the pized trophy for 2002.
Henderson Rangers Ranked: 2nd Last Years Placing: 2nd Colours: Red/White/Blue A team who have been placed 2nd two years straight and are out to make things right this year. The Henderson rangers are a team to look out for they have the foundations set to beat any team on their day. This year could be the year of the WEST or could this be another year in the making for the Waikato Spears?
Wildcats Ranked: 3rd Last Years Placing: 5th Colours: Red/White/Blue This year's team has the inclusion of some Islander's players from last season. During an off season scimmage session with the Waipuna Sharks I couldve sworn they had enough to feild two teams? This years competition is gearing up to the be the most competitive and the Wildcats could be the darkhorse of the competition. Only time will tell and then we will see who are left with the red faces.....
The Hamilton Hawks
Ranked: 4th Last Season's Placing: 5th Colours: Grey/White/Black The Hawks experience and size should make them a team to look out for this the drive to win this season and they will be a team to look out for this year as they strive to go one better this year and take out the top prize. The Waipuna Sharks Ranked: 5th Last Season Placing: 5th Colours: Navy/White/Grey Last year's Show Stoppers are back and boy are they ready for action this year. The team that made the most ripples in the competition is back to ruffle a few feather's can they make it to the semi's this year only in there 2nd season of the competition or will they be left to ponder what wouldv'e been.Tune in to find Out!!!
Central Cougars Ranked: 6th Last Season placing: 6th Colours: Yellow/Black/White The team who have it all still cant seem to put it together on the feild. The are a formidable force once things start working their way and with direction on feild the team have the potential to take this years competition by storm. Will this be the year of the cougars or will this be a repeat of last season where opputunities were made and lost on the feild?
Metro Lions Ranked: 8th Last Season's placing: 8th Colours: Grey/Black/White The wooden spooners from last season are back and boy d othey have some of the biggest hitters in the competition. The Lions have always been a good team and this year may be the year to turn things around. With so much talent on the team somethings gotta happen?!
And finally the newcomer's for the new season the "Hamilton Bulls" are the 8th and final team of the NZAFA Competition for the 2001-2002 Season. GOOD LUCK to all the teams and lets get ready for some bone cruching plays and touchdowns. S
